Things To Remember...

Please make sure that you have only one sample record per spreadsheet
row. Enter as many field names as you need in the columns.
We have both Mac & Windows formats and the latest version of EXCEL,
but we should be able to open up other spreadsheet applications like
LOTUS 1-2-3, etc. We'd prefer a Macintosh EXCEL spreadsheet file.
Enter as much information as you want on your spreadsheet but please
write the MINIMUM amount of information on your sample vial
to distinguish it from other samples. Please use
a BLACK Sharpie©
on your sample vials or computer-generated adhesive labels.
If your samples are already marked differently,
please consider switching to this spreadsheet example for sample
marking from now on and use only a code on your vials. The spreadsheet makes
an excellent record which can be backed up on our main computer.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Because most of our assay calculations are done on a UNIX server,
please avoid using spaces as part of a code within a column.
We copy these columns of data over to our UNIX machine and any
spaces within a code will appear as a separate column in our UNIX file
and disrupt your original spreadsheet arrangement.
Before you send both your sample vials and electronic spreadsheet to us,
make sure that the codes you type in the spreadsheet are identical
to what's written on your sample vial, and that they are in the same
order. There will be an extra sorting fee of $75.20/hour
assessed for having to re-sort your samples when they arrive.
After each or all assays are completed, we will
enter the sample results in a separate column next to the codes
in your original spreadsheet
and electronically send the spreadsheet back to you.
With your sample codes and results in the same spreadsheet you will be able
to sort the information as you wish, make graphs and do statistics
without having to transcribe the information from the calculated
assay file itself.
If you need to sort your EXCEL spreadsheet by date and/or time,
make sure that you have entered that information in one of several
acceptable formats offered by your spreadsheet application.
Send your samples to...
...together with a printout of a completed Assay Service Request Form
to arrive Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:00PM.
Receipt of samples is not possible outside these hours.
